Midian existed for just three years, from 1989 to 1991, but the New Jersey thrash band left a lasting mark on the American underground. During their short run they released five recordings, appeared in countless fanzines and received radio play in both the United States and Europe, while sharing stages with Pantera, Wrathchild America, Biohazard, Revenant, Ripping Corpse, Gothic Slam, Mucky Pup and Sleepy Hollow. Anthems: The Midian Collection 1989-1991 was compiled by drummer Chris Hawkins and brings together the band's complete recorded history, including the earlier Mercenari recordings from before Midian existed. The collection features the First Impressions demo, both the remastered and original versions of The Last War, the Institute of Audio Research demo and the various Mercenari recordings from 1989. A short-lived band, but thirty years later the music still speaks for itself.
