DARK WIZARD emerged from the Dutch metal underground in the early 1980s, originally operating under the name BLIAND. After changing their name in 1983, the band quickly built a reputation for their dark and theatrical approach to heavy metal, releasing several demos before issuing the Devil’s Victim MLP through Mausoleum Records in 1984. This was followed by the cult album Reign Of Evil in 1985/1986, establishing DARK WIZARD as one of the more obscure names from the Dutch heavy metal scene.
After a long absence, DARK WIZARD began to rise from the shadows again in the early 2010s. The reactivated band eventually recorded Close In The Dark, their first full-length release since the classic 1980s material. Originally issued independently in 2018, the album continued the band's tradition of dark, obscure heavy metal while introducing new vocalist Egbert Berenst to the line-up.
Metal Warrior Records released Close In The Dark on vinyl in 2019 as the label's very first release, bringing the long-awaited return of this Dutch cult band to a wider audience. With its combination of traditional heavy metal, dark atmosphere, strong riffing and powerful vocals, the album proved that DARK WIZARD had lost none of their old-school spirit.

After 33 years this Dutch heavy metal cult band released this master piece in 2018 on CD (private release).
In 2019 Metal Warrior Records came with the official release on vinyl.
