BACK OUT was a Dutch heavy metal band active during the early years of the 1980s. The material collected on The Anthology 1983–1985 captures the band during its formative years, documenting the raw energy and straightforward heavy metal attack of the Dutch underground during that period.
The recordings were made in April 1985 at The Tango Studio in Eindhoven, engineered by Roland Smits and Henk Janssen. All tracks were written and produced by BACK OUT, with the line-up consisting of Tiny van Stiphout on lead vocals and guitar, Mart Manders on guitar and backing vocals, Gerard Berkers on bass and Hans van der Steen on drums.
The Anthology 1983–1985 brings together eleven recordings from this period, offering a snapshot of a band that was part of the early Dutch heavy metal movement. Originally released as a limited 12" vinyl through Headbangers Records and Metal Warrior Records, the collection preserves this long-forgotten chapter of the Dutch metal underground.
